** DETROIT CONNECTION PT. 3: DETROIT GRAND PUBAHS (Matrix Music) - out Spring 2009 **

This is the first ever officially released Pubahs mix CD, well in true Pubahs style it is a mix CD like no other incorporating live elements with tracks mixed, edited and recreated live by Mr O, hosted / MC's by Paris the Black FU + live saxaphione by Domgue

** CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION IS A NEW PUBAHS ALBUM AS TECHMARINE BOTTOMFEEDERS **

Originally founded by Mack Goudy Jr. (Paris The Black Fu) and Andy Toth (Dr. Toefinger) in Detroit back in 1998 today’s Detroit Grand Pubahs consist of Paris, his alter egos and the Mysterious Mr O: butcher extraordinaire.

Of course it’s the usual story about hardship, inflatable cheese, high court banning orders, laser-firing buttocks and straightjackets. Few lead s(w)ingers these days can have a crowd eating out of their hands whilst wearing a giant nappy, beard and turban but somehow Paris The Black Fu’s Terrorist Diaper chic is the new couture look for spring 3007. If techno is Kraftwerk jamming with George Clinton in an elevator then the Pubahs have got Spike Milligan on drums, Richard Pryor on bass and the Hair Bair Bunch on vocals.

But the Pubahs are no novelty act. There is method to the madness and bass in the badness. Its just that something went awry in the funk lab and Paris The Black Fu just hasn’t been feeling himselves ever since. It’s all about personality (well split personalities) and a mission to put the fun(k) back into techno. For many the realm of a faceless façade, Paris sets out to engage the crowd and bring the party. And that’s what it was all about in the first place, wasn’t it?

The teaming of Mack Goudy Jr. (aka Paris the Black Fu aka the Schizophrenic Brainchild of Funkno aka Dr. Bootygrabber) & The Mysterious Mr O was a natural disaster waiting to happen. Miraculously, the personalities of these two tweaked characters seemed to compliment each other perfectly and their uncontrollable infatuation with booty (butt, ass, gluteus maximus) instantly bonded them together.

The original Pubahs started out on Brian Gillespie’s tiny indie ‘Throw’ label, releasing the underground club hit ‘Sandwiches’. When a Jive Electro A&R man, dutifully out buying records at a local strip club, heard it he immediately knew he had something special and prepared to unleash it on the world. Since then, they've scored a pop hit in a number of countries and an underground classic worldwide. They’ve also taken their live show to another level, with Paris donning multiple costumes and personalities and encouraging the crowd to participate in the funk.

Their debut LP, “Funk All Y’all,” a mixture of funk, techno and a healthy dose of the bizarre was a call to arms for techno get down like a sex machine whilst the second long player, ‘Galactic Ass Creatures From Uranus’ on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat imprint, spawned two club hits with ‘The Clapper’ and ‘Big Onion’ and torched the way for big bottomed, velvety cheeked electro-house.

At some point during the lab stage process of Dr. Bootygrabber’s ass transplant the Mysterious Mr. O’s talents with a meat cleaver came into their own and the Pubahs become two again. Adding more steel (and of course dashing looks) to the Pubahs roadshow this non-stop techno/electro cabaret act has been all around the world and back taking their electronic lo-fi funk into clubs and large festivals alike. Move your ass and your mind will follow.

The Pubahs now also run their own label, Det.Ele.Funk (or to give it its full title ‘Detroit Electro Funk’) and Paris has been busying himself with various other projects including The Lotterboys on Eskimo Recordings, guest vocals for The Advent’s superb ‘Scent of a Woman’ and new projects with St. Plomb and Marc Romboy to name a few.

With the re-release of the Black Panther sampling ‘Riot 66’ Paris is gearing the Pubahs up for a new full live show to feature guitars and percussionists and work is currently in progress for a new album with Detroit and Chicago influences, titled ‘Nuttin’ Butt Funk’
The live show favourite ‘Rolling Papers & Bush’ (a song about George Bush’s war on drugs) is to drop just before the album.

A project with Dave The Hustler called ‘Filth N Dirt’ is also currently taking shape, mixing rock and roll with funk, and a pointer for the shape of things to come. Delivered, of course, with a huge side order of funk insanity to go.

PARIS THE BLACK FU (aka SLADE BROTHERS)

Fu=Energy

Performance artist or Perverted Genius ?
Paris the Black Fu may be both

What's another sour face among sour faces? Too many people are concerned with holding a hard for hard sakes image. Me - I stand out because I'm not concerned with being hard or presenting a hard unapproachable image. Intimidation is a false representation of what this music is. "Keeping it real" shouldn't be devised to cloak one's self in an attitude to intimidate. World domination has been tried & tried over & over again and those that tried failed. It's unconceivable and unattainable.

I present myself in a different light, an honest light.

My goal is to keep having a good time and have it be recognized. I want to smile among the sour faces, embrace instead of dominate.

Contradiction has been my life long curse and companion in the sense that when you're one way you fall in love with so many things that are the complete opposite of what you are. My influences for example: UR, The Advent, Public Enemy, Malcolm X are all very serious and undeniable and uncompromising. I respect and admire these because you can feel what they are and who they are. On the other hand you have Iggy Pop, George Clinton, Prince, RIck James, and Flip Wilson. Serious energy and fun energy, my teachers * inspirations without a doubt creativity at its best. I combine these energies with several other of my own personalities to give you the Black Fu.

THE MYSTERIOUS MR O

The story of the Detroit Grand Pubahs is a story about fun, funk and forked personalities. Originally founded by Paris The Black Fu and Andy Toth (Dr. Toefinger) in Detroit back in 1998 today's Pubahs consist of Paris, his alter egos and the Mysterious Mr O: butcher extraordinaire. His talents with a meat cleaver are bar none, and his handsome features just are beyond explanation. Chiseled and rugged good looks are at an all time low, but he certainly knows how to get the party started right - just what the Pubahs needed, more fuel to the fire.

Mr. O was asked to join the Detroit Grand Pubahs by Paris after previous member Dr Toefinger had to be cryogenicly frozen due to a freak accident in the lab, in which Toefiunger became a vegetable. Things didn't improve forToefinger so the plug had to be pulled.

Mr O, a former butcher, who had previously appeared in 'Butcher n' Bitches' magazine in which he stated "I always always interested in making music, but never quite find the right way to express myself to the fullest. When Paris approached me to join him in his Pubahs antics I grabbed the opportunity feeling this was where I could finally be myself." Being a big fan of the Pubahs and knowing all the songs joining the Black FU outfit was easy.

He began touring in the Pubahs as they joined Steve Bug's label PokerFlat Recordings releaseing the hit single 'The Clapper' followed up with the LP 'Galactic Ass Creatures From Uranus'.
Since then the non stop techno /electro cabaret act has been all around the world and back taking their electronic lo fi funk into titty bars and large festivals alike.

Mr.O's other role within the Pubahs is label manager for their recently started Det.Ele.Funk label (which stands for Detroit Electro Funk). Their label sees its first release their spring and will feature many guest appearances from Pubahs fans such as Ectomorph, DJ Godfather, The Advent, Samuel L Session, DJ 3000, Aux 88, Alexander Robotnick to name a few.

DETROIT GRAND PUBAHS "Funk All Y'all"
(Jive Electro)
After the success of their worldwide underground classic, "Sandwiches," Jive Electro delivers yet more mad mayhem from the satirical duo known as the Detroit Grand Pubahs. The Pubahs are best known for their offbeat lyrics and colorful live shows. If you see them live, be prepared to be entertained by vocalist Paris the Black Fu sporting a caped Batman suit and diaper, creating a mixture of funk and techno (which they have coined "Funkno" - new genre alert!). They will take you on a trip from the 70's through to the 90's and beyond, incorporating all eras of the funk in their music.

Their new album illustrates the "Funkno" sound perfectly, with bizarre lyrics (care of Paris The Black Fu) accompanied by beats, keys and inspired madness from Andy Toth (AKA Dr Toefinger). There could only be one incarnation of Detroit Grand Pubahs; with their unique brand of sleazy electro funk, they definitely stand out from the masses. The album slowly drags you into the family of warped characters portrayed by Paris & Andy; "Dr Bootygrabber", the warped sex columnist, where all your questions will be answered! The Schizophrenic Investigator, definitely a force to be reckoned with, "Plasticene Gene", the vocodered date your mother wouldn't approve of, and many, many more. They then take you through a myriad of psychotically humorous soundscapes, from "Artificial Intelligence" to "After School Special" to the funk-tastic title track "Funk All Y'all". Not for the faint-hearted.

The next single from the Pubahs will be a double A-side, featuring the CD tracks "One Hump or Two" and "Ride" (the titles speak for themselves), accompanied by remixes.

Expect to be taken to the next level by this unique humorous sex-obsessed Detroit duo.
