Sarrass returns to Third Ear following 2010’s ‘Lust EP’, with a new single taken from his forthcoming album, ‘Dirty Gear’, inspired by traveling around Spain in an old Mercedes. Many sketches of the tracks were made while on dusty Spanish hillsides under bright blue skies.
Sarrass is a producer and musician from Freiburg in the South-West of Germany. He began by studying and playing trumpet and piano in orchestras and small groups (classical and jazz). The music of Klaus Schulze was his first encounter with electronic music and it changed his perception of what music is. Later, he had another paradigm shifting moment when hearing Techno for the first time. His first release was in 2009 on Compost Black with the ‘Home At The Sea EP’.
‘A New Day’ bears the classic Sarrass trademarks; dirty and shiny all at the same time, brilliant tension building, and never ends up where you think it will.
On the A side is the Spacefunk remix, a slo-mo fantasy of the original version, and such a feel-good track, it’s ripe for the summer months.
The B side features the full-length original mix, only available on this single. Deep and melancholic, with an intense drum-beat and funkin’ groove.
An edit of ‘A New Day’ will also appear on his ‘Dirty Gear’ album, due at the beginning of next year.
