EPM & BULLETDODGE RECORDS PRESENTS:THE PLAYERS CLUB

on .

Players-Es-VivePlayers Club, the collaborative event concept between EPM and Bulletdodge Records are pleased to announce their first mission to the party isle of Ibiza.

Set during this year’s fifth IMS (International Music Summit) at the stunning art deco styled Es Vive Hotel, Bulletdodge’s Gareth Whitehead and EPM’s Oliver Way (aka one half of the Detroit Grand Pubahs) will be joined by fellow ‘players’ Silicone Soul, Kristian Heikkila, My Evil Twiin, Jo Mills and Iain Thompson. ‘Players Club’ is aimed to showcase the best in new techno and house sounds, and themed ‘players’ visuals by Lucid Interval (Robert Hood’s live show VJ), alongside a stunning pool-side location, making this a must see party at this years IMS! And as UK / Ibiza club legend Charlie Chester himself says "I’m looking forward to this, it will be a great party!"

EQTV will be on hand to capture all the action behind and in front of the decks for streaming and for the official after movie, adding to the website's impressive catalogue of exclusive footage from clubs and festivals, and video interviews with electronic music's biggest names.

Headliners Silicone Soul need little introduction. Immediately catching the world’s ear with their early releases on Soma, the Glaswegian duo of Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie have occupied a special place in the over-crowded field of electronic dance music, mainly through the depth and quality of their recordings plus innate understanding of music‘s grand heritage and its constant development. Their single release "Right On!" featuring Louise Claire Marshall entered various charts throughout Europe and reached #1 in the UK Dance Singles Chart in October 2001 whilst the pair continue to release and manage their own Darkroom Dubs imprint (now over 50 releases) alongside their own single and album productions.

Alongside the ‘hidden’ business end of Oliver Way’s music career he has also maintained his DJ & production credits, most notably as masked electro-funkateer Mr.O in Detroit Grand Pubahs which has seen him & Paris The Black Fu produce the last 3 Pubahs albums, whilst Oliver also runs their Detelefunk, Deteledub & Engineroom imprints. As a DJ, Mr. O likes to traverse the electronic dance super highway so expect a set of techno, house and electro spanning several decades of glorious fun(k).

Kristian Heikkila joins us ahead of his debut album release ‘Kombinations’ on EPM and on the back of two new singles ‘Khordium / 02’ and ’01 / Noid’. With a history of producing some of Sweden’s finest underground Hip Hop artists, Kristian Heikkila went back to basics a few years ago. Techno and House have always been the real passions of his life and after a few releases on different labels he teamed up with Christian Lundqvist in 2006 to form Kristian & Christian. After numerous releases Kristian Heikkila returns with the essence of what they did, delivering productions influenced by Acid House, Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass and Techno and a live set at Es Vive to showcase this talented young producer from Stockholm.

Jo Mills began to gain her extensive musical knowledge during the early 90s at London’s mecca for house music enthusiasts, Flying Records. Working alongside DJs such as Clive Henry, Rocky and Ashley Beedle lead her to become a regular behind the decks at the infamous Full Circle parties. Soon Jo was playing alongside some of the biggest names in house including Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, Tony Humphries and DJ Sneak, to name a few. Soon Jo was regularly playing at some of the greatest clubs of the time, especially in Ibiza, which these days is where she calls home. Having firmly stamped her mark on the island playing seminal clubs such as Pacha, Space and Amnesia she then began her residency for the now legendary Circo Loco.

Over the years Jo’s musical talents have continued to flourish, not only as a DJ but also as a producer. In the production realm she sights the likes of Jamie Jones, Bookashade and Sebo K as inspiration and is currently

receiving great acclaim for her own releases. Her collaboration with Tomas Hedberg, on Phonetic Recordings caused a huge stir in 2009 and her release, on Back to Basics, entitled “Lullaby” took  the scene by storm which received mass airplay and rave reviews from a diverse selection of key figures including Groove Armarda, Slam, Tedd Patterson, Brother’s Vibe and everyone in-between, beyond and basically all those who love quality house. Jo now collaborates with Bulletdodge's head honcho Gareth Whitehead for the legendary Pacha Recordings!

Which brings us to the head of Bullet:Dodge Records, Gareth Whitehead. Gareth to date has released on labels such as Lost My Dog, Compost Records, Safari Numerique, Nummer Schallplatten, BCB Tech, Broque, Fantastic Friends, Future Audio, Cubism, Naked Lunch, Parallel 125, Dioxide, FHD Records, Sleaze and his very own Bulletdodge Records and Edit/Select in collaboration with Percy X. The end of 2011 and start of 2012 will see Gareth release on labels such as Pacha Recordings, Kling Klong, Mija, Orion Muzik, EPM, Lost My Dog and Compost plus many more.

My Evil Twiin first appeared on the techno scene in early 2008, stunning many underground techno venues throughout the UK with his dark, driving minimal sets. The pseudonym of a highly experienced and successful DJ/producer, his sound fuses sinister Detroit rhythms and tweaking acid sounds with the clarity and precision of minimalism. His previous guises have had releases on labels such as Sub Terranean, Fire Island Records, Telica/Eve Records, Avex, City Limits / Apexton Records, Aleph Recordings, Pure Trax Records and Sheeva Records. He has already established himself as a major player for Bullet:Dodge, aside from his A & R role and has provided quality releases such as the stunning ‘Manmade Machines’ EP that was backed and played by Laurent Garnier, Max Cooper, Andy Slate, Anderson Noise, Moshic and many more.

As a regular DJ to the white isle, Iain Thomson has played at many of Ibiza's top venues including Café Mambo, Bora Bora, Amnesia, El Divino, Eden, Coastline and Savannah. More recently he is part of Essential Ibiza and can be seen at their parties throughout the world. As editor of Tillate magazine he combines his talent for writing with his passion for the dance music scene.

Having released several tracks under the ‘Randall & Hopkirk’ pseudonym on Glasgow’s legendary Bomba Records label, Iain is back in the studio. Recent collaborations with fellow Glasgow DJ/producer Dominic Martin have resulted in remixes for Ibiza legend Jo Mills and 4Tune500. Watch this space for future productions...

PLAYERS CLUB

Having showcased at ADE 2011 and securing the techno tent at this year’s Solar Weekend festival in The Netherlands (announcement soon), Players Club is already proving to be an exciting project with a clear agenda. As well as offering international DJs and live acts a conceptual visual element, this Bulletdodge / EPM alliance will also see them compliment the events by releasing a series of Players Club singles and compilations on each label throughout 2012.

George Lucas on SOPA

on .

The Hollywood Reporter: A political question: SOPA, PIPA and piracy — what are your thoughts on that?

Lucas: "If we had an intelligent system for writing law, everybody would get together and write the best possible answer to that. I mean, putting the digital world up against the traditional world and saying it’s one or the other is not a wise decision. Because what you’re saying is, do you want movies to exist, or do you want everything to just be on the Internet and see cats watching television or something ? Everybody wants movies, everybody wants television shows, and everybody wants digital media. It’s just up to the government to sit down with both sides and write a reasonable bill. I think what they’ve got now is a flawed bill, which is not unusual, but that’s all it is: sloppy legislation. Which has to be fixed. If we go much longer without [good] laws, most people won’t pay attention [until] they arrest somebody who’s making $50 million a year — and then you realize that there’s hundreds of millions of dollars being siphoned off, and it does affect the music business, the film business, and eventually, the software business. Everybody’s in this together."
