The musical identity of Berlin’s Discrete Circuit is shaped by the creative vibrancy of Berlin and the soul of Detroit, as well as the energy of house and techno in its most timeless form.
Originally started as a duo in 2012, Discrete Circuit is now a one-man project by Andreas Horn, who also runs the infamous AWAY parties in Berlin as well as the label of the same name. The inspiration comes from the shared experiences of Berlin and Detroit. Connecting on the one hand, the falling of the wall and on the other, General Motors leaving the city. It’s this fusion of those energies that excites Horn.
In early 2015 DVS1 released Discrete Circuit’s first track, ‘Incursion’ on ‘The Brunette’, a compilation EP on Mistress Recordings. Then in June, Delsin Records brought their Inertia sub-arm back to life and released his first full EP, ‘Machine Code’. Now Mark Broom’s Beard Man label takes up the story with Discrete Circuit’s ‘Redial EP’ in January 2016.
The EP is comprised of three new deep and textured techno cuts, opening with the drum-led ‘Old Kingdom’, which leads into bass stomper, ‘Divulge’, before ‘Redial’ delivers its kick. Revisiting that first Discrete Circuit track, ‘Incursion’, Mark Broom gets on the edit for a powerful finale.
